Wrestling

Wrestling is a no-cut sport and any student 6th-8th grade can join.

Study Hall: We have a high school tutor to help from 3:30-4:15 each practice.  Attendance lists will be compiled weekly and posted to the study hall section on the blog. Study hall is optional for all wrestlers; it will become mandatory for those wrestler’s who are receiving a “W” in any of their classes.

Equipment: Wrestlers need to provide their own wrestling shoes; we have a limited number of used pairs of wrestling shoes that wrestlers can borrow.  Wrestlers with braces need to wear a mouthguard.  We will provide a wrestling singlet and headgear.  We encourage wrestlers to wear a fresh pair of shorts/sweatpants and tshirt each practice.  It is ok to wear your p.e. uniform, but we want to make sure it is getting washed.  Please bring your own water bottle as their is a limited number of water fountains.  

Meet Day Procedures

Home: All wrestlers are expected to attend all home meets, from beginning to end, in order to support their teammates, set-up the gym,  and clean up the gym when the meet is over. All wrestlers are expected to be in the gym, dressed, and prepared with all their necessary wrestling items prior to the meet.

Away: Specific wrestlers

Based on the lineup from the other team. Do not bring chromebooks to away meets.  

PhysicalsNo wrestler will be allowed to practice without a current school physical. Valid physicals from other sports are acceptable but must cover the season window in order to be accepted as valid.

Making a commitment

  • Be at all practices and meets
  • Inform coaches prior to being absent or immediately after being sick
  • If your goal is to be first string and wrestle during the state series (regionals, sectionals, and/or state) you need to have 90% attendance during the season.
